How often should a pipette be calibrated?

For routine use, many laboratories establish a calibration interval between 3 and 12 months based on frequency of use, liquid type, quality requirements, and internal SOPs. Recalibrate sooner after repair, impact, leakage, or a failed performance check.

Can the LifeGloria pipette be autoclaved?

Fully autoclavable LifeGloria models can be autoclaved at 121°C without disassembly. Follow the time, drying, cooling, and post-autoclave performance-check instructions in the product manual.

Why does liquid leak from the pipette tip?

Common causes include an incorrectly seated tip, an incompatible or cracked tip, contamination on the tip cone, or worn sealing components. Replace the tip, clean the cone, confirm compatibility, and inspect the sealing system.

Why is the pipette dispensing an inaccurate volume?

Possible causes include incorrect technique, unsuitable tips, air leakage, worn seals, temperature differences, or overdue calibration. Perform a leak check and gravimetric performance test according to the laboratory SOP.

Which pipette volume range should I choose?

Choose the smallest pipette that comfortably covers the target volume. For best performance, avoid operating at the extreme lower limit when another range provides better coverage.

What is the difference between a low-speed and high-speed centrifuge?

Low-speed centrifuges are commonly used for larger-volume routine separation and lower-RCF workflows. High-speed centrifuges reach higher RPM and RCF for smaller particles, cell pelleting, nucleic-acid workflows, and other demanding separations. Compare RCF, rotor capacity, tube compatibility, and application requirements rather than RPM alone.

Why does a centrifuge vibrate excessively?

Common causes include unequal sample mass, asymmetric loading, incorrect rotor installation, damaged tubes or rotor components, or an unstable bench. Stop the run, allow the rotor to stop completely, and inspect the loading and rotor before restarting.

How often should the rotor be inspected?

Inspect the rotor, lid, buckets, adapters, and locking components before use for corrosion, cracks, deformation, or contamination. Follow the manufacturer’s maintenance interval and replace damaged or expired components immediately.

What should I do if the centrifuge does not start?

Check the power supply, lid-lock status, rotor installation, fuse or circuit protection, and any error message shown on the display. Do not bypass the lid interlock. Contact technical support if the fault remains.

How should samples be balanced?

Use matching tubes and adapters, place samples symmetrically, and equalize opposing loads by mass according to the operating manual. Never run an unbalanced rotor.

Vortex Mixer FAQ

What is a vortex mixer used for?

A vortex mixer rapidly mixes liquids in test tubes, vials, and compatible small vessels. Common uses include sample resuspension, reagent preparation, pellet mixing, and routine tube agitation.

What is the difference between touch mode and continuous mode?

Touch mode starts when a tube presses the cup head and is suitable for quick single-tube mixing. Continuous mode runs without constant pressure and is suitable for longer mixing or compatible multi-vessel attachments.

Can a vortex mixer process multiple tubes at once?

Yes, when the mixer is equipped with a compatible multi-tube or platform attachment. Capacity depends on the accessory and the permitted speed range.

Why is the mixer not rotating?

Check the power connection, voltage, operating-mode switch, speed setting, and attachment installation. If the motor or internal electrical system is suspected, disconnect the unit and contact qualified service personnel.

Why is the vortex mixer making unusual noise?

Check for a loose attachment, uneven placement, a vessel that is not centered, or worn components. Reduce speed and stop operation if vibration or noise remains abnormal.
